Help KC Express serve the entire running community by volunteering for our water stop at the KC Marathon. We are a key spot on the race course, handing out thousands of cups of water and Gatorade. We also cheer for all the runners and entertain them with our funny outfits.
Our location is Summit & Westport Rd. Your outfit will be easy! Just wear your pj’s or bathrobe–our theme is “I can’t believe you woke me up for this.” That will also make showing up at 5:30 am easier. We’ll be done around 9:30, and hope you’ll join us for coffee after.
PLEASE HELP! Use this link to sign up, and sign up your friends and family members, too. (Scroll down and click KC Express.)
THANK YOU!! Here are a few photos of our volunteers (and cups!) from previous years.

Lots of fun and high-fives on Sept 14 and 15 when many KCE Members and BRAG Teamers did their goal events. Eight made the road trip to Wichita for the See Jane Run Women’s Half Marathon (pictured here), while others stayed home for the Plaza 10K. Congrats to our finishers, & thanks to our coaches!

Here’s a very special event! Martini Madness — “The Olive Run” — is a 5K run/walk & party to remember Olive Drew, a great lady who inspired ALL in the KC running community at so many local races. Hosting the event on Sunday afternoon, Aug 18, at 4:00 pm is “The Other Place”, a bar and grill at 16590 West 135th in Olathe, Kansas. After hitting the nearby trails for the run, participants can socialize and enjoy food and beverage specials out on their deck.
For those who don’t know her story, Olive started running at the age of 75 when she broke her hip and couldn’t ski anymore. She ran ‘til she was 93, expanding the age range in most races she entered. She ran the Mother’s Day 5K every year until 2012. She won several Gold Medals at the National Senior Olympic Games. Read more about Olive’s fascinating life here.
Celebrate Olive’s adventuresome spirit and active lifestyle! Register here for Martini Madness. Race proceeds fund an education scholarship established in her memory. (You’ll love the cool medal, too!)
